What is a Local Account?
A Local Account is one that is created in our user service with a username and password that is unique to Linux Academy. You are still required to enter an email to tie to your account for communication purposes (billing info, password reset links, etc.), but can enter your own username and password.
When you choose a local account, authentication is handled by our login service and not a linked service. This means that even if you use Google Mail for your account, you cannot sign in and authenticate with your Google account. You will need to enter a username and password to sign in.
Link to other Services
You can link your Local Account to third-party services if the email on your Local Account matches the email used on the chosen service. To set up this link with an available third-party service for authentication, simply select the service on the login page and you will be prompted to link it to an existing account after you authenticate and grant permissions to our login service with the linked provider.
