Create a New Cloud Playground Server
To create a new server in the Playground, simply click the + New Server button at the bottom of your Server List.
This will open the New Server dialog where you can choose the options for your servers.
- Distribution - Type or select from the dropdown the server distribution you want to create. If you have already selected a distribution, simply select and delete what you have entered to choose a new option.
- Zone - Currently this is limited to the United States. As the Playground is further developed, additional Zones will be added from all over the world and you will be able to select them here.
- Size - Choose from Micro to Large for your server size. Micro servers cost only one unit and each size increase costs an extra unit up to the Large at 4 units each. If you select a size larger than the available units you have on your account, an error message will appear when you try to create the server and you will need to pick a smaller size or cancel the creation. Note that some servers have a minimum size and will always cost more than one unit each.
- Tag - Default value of "Server". Click here and then type in any custom tag you would like associated with this server. It will be shown in the Tag column on the Server list.
Once you've selected the options for your new server, click Save to create it.
If you have enough Units available for the server size you've chosen, the server will be created. If you do not have enough units available, an error message will appear.
If you see this message, choose a smaller size for the server and then try again. If a smaller size is not available for that distribution or if you do not have any units available, cancel the creation of the server, delete one or more of your already created servers, then try again.
If at any time you change your mind and do not want to create the server, simply click Cancel to return to the Server List.
After initiating the creation of a new server, you will be returned to the Server List and will see the new server at the bottom of the list as it starts up. The Logs will show you the stages of start-up as they are completed.
