How to Assign and Remove Learning Paths

Learning Paths are a convenient way to build out a curriculum for your organization's Students. As an Administrator or Group Administrator, you can assign Learning Paths to single members, or to groups that you have administrative access over. As a Student, you can create your own Learning Path and assign them to yourself, but not to anyone else.

Use for Learning Paths

This is one way you can use learning paths.

Your organization has specific training set up for new members via a learning path on your Linux Academy for Business platform. To assign the learning path to them, you decide to add the new member to the 'Onboarding' group, which has the 'Onboarding' learning path already assigned, and assign them a specific due date. At the same time, you realize that they need training that is specific to them. After creating a new learning path, which you call 'Azure Refresh', you open the learning path and assign it to the new member. This one does not need a due date, though you can always add one later.

Once the member finishes the learning paths, you decide to remove the completed paths and replace them with a new set. You go to their personal account and remove the student from the 'Onboarding' group, and then remove the 'Azure Refresh' learning path that they finished. Even though the learning paths are removed from their account, the member will still show that they finished the learning paths, and you will be able to review how well they did by using reporting.

Assigning a Learning Path

  1. From the main Dashboard, select the Learning Paths tab.
  2. On the Learning Paths page, search for the learning path you wish to assign.
  3. To the right of the learning path, select the Edit button, and from the dropdown, select Assign to Members/Groups.
  4. Under the Creating Assignments section, enter the names of the students or the groups you want to assign the learning path too. You can also add a due date if desired.
  5. Select Assign Learning Path once you have completed the previous step.
  6. Select Finish

Removing a Learning Path

  1. From the main Dashboard, select the Learning Paths tab.
  2. On the Learning Paths page, search for the learning path you wish to assign.
  3. To the right of the learning path, select the Edit button, and from the dropdown, select Assign to Members/Groups.
  4. Under Assignments, find the groups or students you want to remove the learning path from.
  5. Select the Remove button.
  6. Select Finish.
